I don’t think you can go wrong with either of those 2. Plater offers even more customization, and more copy/paste profiles similar to Weakauras, but Threat Plates has had many more years of history under it’s belt (tried and true).
Threat Plates has a lot of customization options. Plater can do all these things as well, and then some. When in dps/heal spec those 2 colors flip around (as you usually prefer not to have aggro in those roles).Īs raiding usually involves 2 tanks, you can also setup another color for mobs that you do not have aggro on, but for which your partner tank does. Threat Plates’s default (i think) is to have healthbars of mobs that you’re tanking in 1 color (green) and mobs that are not being tanked by you in another color (red). The main thing that you want to see (besides the health% of mobs), is what your threat/aggro status is on every mob and their castbars. I like Threat Plates, but Plater or Tidy Plates are solid as well, and i know there’s a fairly well known kuiNameplates that i have never tried. There’s a lot of information that you want instant access to, but you also want your interface to be clean/minimalist so it leaves a clear view of the game world, balancing those is usually the trick.
Yea indeed, i’d say Bbqflavours hits the nail on the head, that’s the main one.Ī bossmod addon (DBM or bigwigs, ideally whichever of the 2 most of your guild uses if you’re raiding in a guild environment), is generally advisable, but more than that, you’ll want useful nameplates. Personally I use Plater but I know there are many other options out there. One thing I've noticed as a DPS on elvui is that the nameplates seem to kinda overlap, which can sometimes make it difficult to see them all, and I envisage this might bcome a problem tanking.Some decent nameplate addon is advisable I would say. I have used things like threat plates and tidyplates in the past, at present I'm using Elvui and like the nameplate setup I have. One question I had was relating to nameplates. Our MT is taking me under his wing, hes a good friend, and its actually an exciting prospect. The idea is I use this tier to get to grips with tanking and then be ready for Foundry. Our raid has some issues with our second tank and his schedule, so I'm being tried out basically as a tank to see how I go. So after what has been a rough start to raiding for me on my longtime Warlock ( as in its becoming difficult to justify my raid spot, due to the current state of the class, I'm moving to my DK to tank as blood.
